Frezer Abebe, WASH Loan Client
Frezer Abebe, a determined young woman, joined Dire Microfinance with the hope of improving her family’s living conditions. Through her membership, she gained access to a variety of financial services, but the most life changing was the Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) loan program.
Before accessing the loan, Frezer and her family faced daily challenges related to sanitation and hygiene. Their home lacked a proper toilet and bathing facility, and water storage was unsafe. These conditions not only affected their health but also limited their dignity and comfort.
With the WASH loan, Frezer was able to construct a modern toilet, a shower facility, and a safety water tank. These improvements brought immediate change: her family now enjoys a healthier lifestyle, reduced risk of waterborne diseases, and a renewed sense of pride in their home.
Frezer explains that the loan did more than provide infrastructure — it gave her family peace of mind and dignity. She emphasizes that the WASH loan service has been a turning point, enabling them to live in a clean and safe environment.
Beyond her household, Frezer recognizes the wider impact of the program. She notes that the introduction of WASH loans by Dire Microfinance plays a critical role in building cleaner communities and promoting public health. By sharing her experience, she encourages others to take advantage of the service, highlighting its multiple benefits for both individuals and society.
Her testimony demonstrates how access to inclusive financial services can empower women, uplift families, and strengthens communities. Frezer’s journey is a powerful example of how microfinance, when combined with social impact programs, can create lasting change.
