The institution held its performance review forum for the first half of 2017 at the New Level Hotel.
It is playing a significant role in strengthening financial inclusion by providing access to credit and savings services to a lot of people, enabling them to achieve their goals and realize their dreams. It has been able to expand its horizons in Dire Dawa administration, more than ever increasing the economic benefits of youth and women from time to time, in urban and rural areas, in Harar and Jigjiga.
Dire Micro-Finance held its performance review forum, and when the institution’s comprehensive credit and savings plan for the first half of 2017 was presented, the report indicated that the institution was able to distribute more than 410 million birr to its clients in the first half of the year.
It was also reported that more than 395 million birr of loans were disbursed to micro and small enterprises in the first half of the year, and more than 183 million birr of loans were repaid, and significant progress was made in terms of increasing savings collection and enhancing the benefits of women and youth.
It was also noted that the institution recorded a profit of more than 60 million birr in the first half of the year through extensive work undertaken to increase its profitability, and that in order to maintain this profitability, it will continue to work extensively to expand and modernize its loan and savings services.
It was also reported that in the first half of 2017, the total amount of loans granted by Dire Micro-Finance to its loan customers reached more than 1.2 billion birr.
The performance reports of Dire Micro-Finance branches, the summary Operations and Finance Directorate reports were also presented and discussed at the report review forum.
At the conclusion of the review forum, Ato Teshome Abebe, CEO of Dire Micro-Finance, emphasized that credit quality assurance plays a key role in ensuring the effectiveness of loans and reducing the risk of credit default.
Improving digital savings, serving customers with integrity, and recovering outstanding loans with determination and high motivation are other key issues that Ato Teshome Abebe directed.
