Dire Micro-Finance signs MoU with Dire Dawa Administration Environment, Forest and Climate Change Authority

Dire Micro-Finance signed a MoU with the Environment, Forest and Climate Change Authority  to provide financial support to the livelihood improvement sector to cope with the impact of climate change.

Present at the MoU signing ceremony, Ato Teshome Abebe, CEO of Dire Micro-Finance, said that Dire Micro-Finance is playing a vital role in reaching out to low-income groups and providing financial support to improve their livelihoods and increase their economic benefits. He said that the MoU signed  will also provide financial support to flood-prone and climate-resilient communities. Ato Teshome added that his institution is ready to make the project to reduce the vulnerability of communities to climate change effective and to serve the communities that will benefit from the project.

On his part, Ato Abdu Mohamed, General Manager of the Environment, Forest and Climate Change Authority, said that the project to reduce the vulnerability of communities to climate change aims to create job opportunities for the community by removing the risk of flooding from the community, and that working with Dire Micro-Finance creates capacity and benefits the community, so it is necessary to sign a memorandum of understanding with the institution.

During the signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding, it was announced that Dire Micro-Finance will provide financial assistance to the beneficiaries of the Community Vulnerability Reduction Project, and that the Ethio-Italian Polytechnic College, which signed an agreement with the Environment, Forest and Climate Authority , will support the project by developing technologies.

The Community Vulnerability Reduction Project is a 5-year project and it is estimated that approximately 15,000 community members will benefit from the project.
